19 Bidders show interest for Jewar airport; development work expected to commence in 2020 September 27, 2019 19 Bidders show interest for Jewar airport; development work expected to commence in 2020 A total of 19 bidders, including GMR, Reliance and Adani group, have shown interest for the development of Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar district. The development work of the airport is expected to commence in 2020 and the first phase will be completed by 2023. The cabinet of Uttar Pradesh have approved the amendment in the bid document prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and authorised the chief minister for approval in amendments, if needed, in future. The minister said that the development work of the first runway of the airport is likely to start in 2023. The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration acquired and transferred 83 hectares of land from two villages to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday for the proposed Jewar airport. As much as 81.5 hectares was acquired from Rohi village, while 1.5 hectares from Banwaribans village, taking the total acquisition to 707 hectares. This forms the first phase of development work of the international greenfield airport. Nearly 5,000 hectares of land around the upcoming Jewar airport is set to be developed along the lines of an aerotropolis — a fully integrated city with infrastructure, land use and economy built around an airport.
